Unbelievable! The Philadelphia 76ers added another big L to the loss column on Tuesday with a 105-98 loss on the road against the Wizards. In a game that was really in favor of the Sixers in the stat column such as rebounds, assists and steals, the turnover factor and of course free throw shooting actually sucked out loud. The Sixers defense was able to limit Antawn Jamison to just seven points and gave up 14 to Caron Butler. Gilbert Arenas went off for 31 however, but when you look at the stats across the board, they did indeed limit Butler and Jamison’s opportunities. So what went wrong?
Free throw shooting was 18-for-25 for a total of 72%. Simply not good enough. Three point shooting is becoming abysmal to even watch because Philly, you shoot too many threes. Your percentage last night was 4-for-13… okay, not as bad, but still bad! The real kicker in this one was the ability of four foot nothing or something of that matter Earl Boykins coming into the game for the Wizards and scoring 18 points. Why? Nick Young and Andre Blatche ended the game with 13 and 10 respectively off the bench.
What really irked me watching the fourth quarter was Andre Iguodala was matched up against Boykins. Why? Where’s Lou Williams and Willie Green, the real guards in the mix? Forget about switching on everything and tell Williams or Green to stick with Boykins who does nothing more than roam around the three and potentially drive and dish. Why did he drive and dish? Simply he’s smaller and quicker than Iggy is. Terrible match up.
After it is all said and done, the beloved Sixers have yet dropped another game. Sad isn’t it? It really is, but there’s nowhere to go but up. Philadelphia will rest up and try to get back on track on Saturday on the road against the Utah Jazz. Until then my friends, rest, recoup and have a happy holiday. Sixers fans keep rooting and sticking with your beloved team from the City of Brotherly Love.
Peace From The 570!
