NEWS: The Sixers, according to a report from Bloomberg, will be sold in the next few business days for around $280 million. That’s lower than the price commanded for the sale of the Seattle Sonics and Storm (WNBA team) 5 years ago, who were sold for a combined $350 million to Clay Bennett, who then shipped the team to his hometown of Oklahoma City. As far as we know, that’s not the case here. The Sixers should be here to stay.
Interesting that they would be sold during a lockout. The price is low, which says something about the team’s financial state.
Anyway, onto the normal Vigil things.

Willie Green was once given a 5-year, $20 million deal. Funny thing is, even with his lack of good play, his contract wasn’t completely terrible.
Contract of the Day
Sammy Dalembert just finished a 6-year, $66 million deal. The best part? The 15% trade kicker!

A link to our debate from yesterday about Elton Brand and amnesty. Thanks to Kyle for organizing it – both sides are compelling.
Deron goes to Turkey. Not really a National Lampoon title, but interesting nonetheless.
Amare doesn’t go to China. The sequel is not as good as the original.
The Nets lost money a while back. A lot of it. Surely supports the owners claims. A 34-48 season will create those types of losses.

Something to Watch
Well, it’s Friday tomorrow, so find something to do instead. But during the day, DDL is on at 2, which is always interesting.
The Vigil will be back on Sunday. Have a good weekend!
