NBA 2K12 Season: 76ers at Magic

Sixer loss to Timberwolves + Sixer win vs Magic = Sixers basketball.

Yes, the Sixers went down by as much as 21 vs the Timberwolves (I’m still trying to figure it out!) but beat the Orlando Magic 108-101, leading as much as 10 points. This was a very close game throughout; it had over 10 (I think it was 16) lead changes and 9 ties. Dumb A.I. moves from the video game cost the Magic the game, seriously. Like one example that really set the game, the Magic player aimlessly walked over the half court line and was called for a back-court violation with 16 seconds left and down by 3. If you’ve played 2K for a while you know what I’m talking about very well. It’s a shame.

Andre Iguodala and Jrue Holiday both had 24 points but the player of the game award went to Iguodala. He added 8 rebounds, and 3 assists. Jrue added 5 rebounds and 8 assists. I preferred that Jrue got the player of the game award since Iguodala had 8…turnovers. Yuck. both players shot 50% in FG. Marreese Speights and Elton Brand had double-doubles in points and rebounds. Marreese had 12 and 10 and Brand had 11 and 10. Lou Williams came in with 10 points.

I just have to pause to give you this stat: Speights has no turnovers so far this season. As well as Andres Nocioni, Jodie Meeks, and Craig Brackins. All of these players have played significant minutes too. Yup…it’s a video game alright.

The biggest advantage the Sixers had was in rebounds. They won that battle 46-29. Points in the paint went in favor for the Sixers too, 48-30 (OK this was probably the biggest advantage then).

I have some bad news: When I look at the season stats for each team, the Sixers’ stats are completely off. 90 rebounds PER GAME? No that’s not right. 55 turnovers PER GAME? Nope that’s wrong. Maybe it’s been like this already and I never really noticed it. I own 2K2, 2K3, and 2K9-12 and still never noticed it. But I don’t look at those stats often so it may just be finally catching up to the problem.

I really wanted to get to the Rockets game tonight but that’s going to have to wait until Thursday night.
