Fans of the Sixers were anticipating an exciting offseason, and when the Sixers re-signed Center Spencer Hawes, it seemed as if we were gonna say hello to the exact same Sixers team(besides the additions of Harkless and Moultrie). Yesterday, though, really shook things up. It all started when we amnestied Elton Brand. So this means we can pay off the rest of his contract($18 million) without effecting our salary cap. After that, we signed G Nick Young, who played for the Wizards and Clippers last year. This deal is for 1 year/$6 mil, and after he signed with the Sixers, it caught my attention that Lou Williams time in Philly was probably done. Soon after the Sixers signed Young, Williams announced via Twitter that he and the Sixers have moved in opposite directions. I knew that Williams probably wasn’t going to return, but when he said it on Twitter, it kind of hit me that the player that I’ve watched for years is leaving for good. I will admit during the season I wanted him gone. He took many dumb shots, dribbled the ball way too much, and played awful defense, but when he officially announced that he would not be re-joining the Sixers, it hit me that he was gone for good, which was a little upsetting. Anyways, yesterday was a successful day for the Sixers as they made the right moves.
Now that Brand is gone, and we have additional money left to spend, the sixes have interest in F Ersan Ilyasova, of the Milwaukee Bucks. He would be a nice fit, although we are stacked on Forwards. The big question, though, is what we have planned for Iguodala. If we can work out a trade for Iguodala, I would definitely love to see Turner move to SF, and Nick Young to start as our SG(unless we get a legit SG, or SF for Iggy). We are still early in the offseason, and that “special change” us Sixers fans are hoping for could actually be right around the corner. So, what do you think about our moves so far? Will the Sixers make that change that could make us contenders?
