The Sixers seem to be very fond of stacking up on wing players this offseason. Today the Sixers acquired Dorell Wright from Golden State. It was initially reported that the Sixers would be giving the Warriors a future draft pick. However, Marcus Thompson, who is a writer for the Bay Area News Group reports that the Sixers will send the Warriors a player they drafted and sent overseas.
Last Season, Wright averaged 10.3 PPG, 4.6 RPG and 1.5 APG. In addition, Wright is an extremely good 3-point shooter. What the Sixers desperately needed was a wing player who can shoot the ball well. Andre Iguodala shot the ball well last year when he stepped into his shot, but with him having the ball in his hands so much last season, he usually shot off the dribble, which he is not nearly as good at.
The acquisition of Wright almost certainly means that that Andre Iguodala will be traded. As currently constructed, the Sixers have Iguodala, Harkless, and Wright at the SF position, not including Evan Turner who can play the SF position when the Sixers go with a small lineup.
For years we have been speculating if Iguodala will be traded each offseason. It seems like it will finally happen.
