Dorell Wright? Maurice Harkless? Evan Turner? Nick Young? Andre Iguodala? Really? I mean, you can’t have that many wing players together like that. Harkless was taken as the 15th pick so you know Sixers are wanting to use him as much as possible. Sixers didn’t sign Young to sit on the bench. Wright is a much needed shooter and deserves playing time. Evan Turner is still part of the young core that the Sixers is hoping to win a championship with. And yeah, Andre is the best player out of them all. I’m saying all 5 of these players deserve significant playing time. Maybe in a lockout type season you can do this because you want to stretch the minutes.
In all seriousness, the Sixers really shouldn’t be stacking up all of these wing players that don’t solve a need when they have needs on the roster to address. Still need a big man. Spencer Hawes? HAHAHA. Moultrie? He’s a rookie; we need to see what he’s going to bring to the team. If the Sixers feel that Moultrie is who they want to build with, then I can live with that for now. Allen? I’m still not feeling he’s going to be a big contributor for a contending team. Vucevic fell out of the rotation so we’ll have to see if he can get back in. Thad Young is energy but doesn’t really have the skills that the Sixers need.
Nick Young is a shooter. But not a great one. But, I’m fine with him being our primary shooter. Sixers still need a big man and scorer. We need a PG for Jrue especially with Lou Williams gone (he’s NOT a PG but was the closest thing to it. Not really).
I’m not sure how I feel about what the Sixers will be getting in return. A solid big, a veteran PG to come off the bench, and a pick. If the Sixers can get that for Andre Iguodala (and maybe another piece), I’ll be ok. I’m also thinking that the Iguodala trade is being held back until at least the 11th, when FA signings become official. By then, the cap situation will be definite and the Sixers will know who can be taken or not and for what price. They’ll know for absolute sure that they have a certain amount of cap space and all of that.
Some time this week, either the trade rumors will really heat up, or the trade will go down. Either way, you can’t help but think that Iguodala’s time as a Sixer is up.
