76ers Agree to Terms With Royal Ivey, According to Doug Collins

Oct 30, 2009; Philadelphia, PA, USA; Philadelphia 76ers guard Royal Ivey (12) defends Milwaukee Bucks guard Luke Ridnour (13) during the second quarter at the Wachovia Center. The 76ers defeated the Bucks 99-86. Mandatory Credit: Howard Smith-US PRESSWIRE

The 76ers bring back Royal Ivey as the back-up PG I was hoping the Sixers would get. Ivey was part of the Sixers during the 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 (dear GOD!) seasons. He’s what they call a bench warmer. But seriously, I always liked Royal’s game. He can defend, and, when his feet are set, cat knock down the 3-ball. Is he the back-up PG I had in mind? Not really. But, um…he’s a decent player. Having him behind Jrue isn’t really a big issue. Again, I wanted a PG that’s been around to teach Jrue the game of PG. I would imagine Ivey has good basketball IQ. Make sure you pronounce his name Roy (Brandon Roy) Al (Al Jefferson) and not Royal (Royalty).

Details of the deal (years and salary) have not been revealed.
