2012-2013 NBA Season Preview: California

Last time we talked about which team in New York was better. Today is California. We have 4 teams in here. Lakers, Clippers, Warriors, and Kings (for how long?). Unlike New York, I really think that there is a clear winner for this state: Lakers.

Lakers recently acquired Dwight Howard for Andrew Bynum and some picks. That’s basically how they did in that recent trade. They got Steve Nash. Kobe. Pau. I mean, they have top players at for of 5 spots. Their bench might be a little weak but with a starting 5 like that, it’s not a big deal. Still, Antwan Jamison and Steve Blake and Jordan Hill (Lakers like their Steve running the PG position), off the bench is pretty cool.

Up next as a clear second best are the Clippers. The Lakers may be the better team in LA but Clippers will not be as dominated as they used to be. Clippers needed some upgrades and they got em. Jamal Crawford is the scoring punch this team needed. Billups went down with the injury, they they got current Sixers Nick Young. They got Lamar Odom back in town…and back in a Clippers uniform. They got Grant Hill. Alongside Chris Paul and Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan, this team may be one of the best in team history (not that the bar is set high).

Now for the Warriors and Kings, it’s not as clear as who is the better team. I would say the Warriors are better only because their talent is more polished. But Kings have so much potential that it’s very possible that they will be better than the Warriors as the season goes on.

So the final order will be:

  1. Lakers
  2. Clippers
  3. Warriors
  4. Kings

So I put the Warriors ahead of the Kings. I feel like I’ll be wrong about that but whatever. Up next is Texas. Everything is big-you know what it’s gotten old.
