But Who Starts At Power Forward?

We have options. We have reports. Before the Bynum trade, it was Spencer Hawes starting at PF. He was terrible at Center and never played PF (maybe like a minute or two), but sure let’s do it! Lavoy Allen is around. Arnett Moultrie is here but he’s probably not going to start. Pretty sure Thad Young will continue to be the bench spark.

Who should start at Power Forward? Not who will the Sixers actually start but who do I think will start? Do we really want Spencer to start at PF? PF’s are more athletic than Hawes. I’m more athle…no I’m not going there. Look, I think the start should go to Lavoy Allen. And I don’t know why.

I mean, in my review of last season, I didn’t really see Allen starting. I figured the Sixers would get that big man (they got him!). In a weird twist, Allen may just start. Last season saw Hawes start and then eventually fall off the face of the rotation chart. Sixers decided to keep him anyway. Why? Beats me. Especially with the Bynum trade it seems like a bad idea. Allen, Young, Bynum, Hawes, Brown, Moultrie. Somebody isn’t getting minutes. Moultrie may see D-League time. Unless he’s going to play solid minutes, they need to just send him away instead of Moultrie just collecting dust on the bench. Bynum, Thad, and Hawes will definitely be in constant rotation. Is Brown going to play much?

So rotation chart:

Center: Bynum, Brown

Power Forward: Allen, Young

Yeah I left out Hawes. I mean, I did it because I did it. In all honesty, it’s almost as if I don’t care who starts. Nobody that starts at PF on this team should be starting on a contending team. Basically, it’s a hole that needs to be filled so just put somebody there. I guess I say Allen because I like what he brings. No, I’m not riding on his playoff performance. I still see Allen at best as a backup PF. He may be injury reserve type of guy. But, for now, he’s what I would like to see. I think Brown should be behind Bynum. That leaves out Hawes and I really feel like Hawes will be riding the bench. I just feel that way. If Bynum misses games from the knee, then boom, you have Hawes to fill in. That’s his role: a bench player. I just don’t feel he’s a starter on a good team.

So give the starting PF to Mr. 500. What do you think?
