Royal Ivey returns to the Sixers for the third time in his career, after a recent two-year stint with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Ivey has struggled to gain any playing time for most of his NBA tenure, but remains in the league because of his defense. Philadelphia hopes to slide in Ivey in the backcourt to help back up its young guards.
The 30-year-old guard from Harlem, New York is now in his eighth year, with career averages of 3.4 points and 1.1 assists per game. Ivey has never been a force on offense for any team he’s played for. This season, the Sixers are hoping for Ivey to make a difference on the defensive side of the floor, while also picking up the extra minutes left behind by Jrue Holiday.
