Round 2 of the Celtics and Sixers will take place Friday night at the Wells Fargo Center. Boston comes in after doing what the Sixers couldn’t, which was beat Minnesota. The Celtics beat the T-Wolves 104-94 behind Kevin Garnett’s 18 points and 10 rebounds. Rajon Rondo had his normal night at the office with 17 points and 11 assists. Every starter for Boston finished in double figures as they shot 52 percent from the field. Boston struggled from the three going 4 of 17 and shot 69 percent from the line, things that could be in the back of the Sixers mind. With Garnett and Brandon Bass inside, Thaddeus Young and Lavoy Allen will need to crash the boards hard. Rondo and Jrue Holiday may arguably be the two best points guards in the Eastern Conference and will be a fun match up to watch.
The Sixers fell to the Timberwolves 105-88 on Tuesday night, in a game where they were completely outplayed. Evan Turner led the way with 19 points and 5 rebounds, but will have a battle on his hands keeping up with Paul Pierce Friday. Jrue Holiday had 13 points and 9 assists and will be able to test his skills against one of the best point guards in the league in Rondo. Thaddeus Young had 13 points but only 2 rebounds, something that he will need to improve when battling Garnett and Brandon Bass inside. Jumping on the Celtics is a must, because youth is on the Sixers side. Philly will need Jason Richardson to match the shooting ability and energy that “The Jet” Jason Terry brings for Boston. These two teams will see a lot of each other this weekend as they play a home and home. If they set the tempo early and hold their own on the boards, the Sixers should grab a nice divisional win at home.
