The Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 99-89 in Memphis on Wednesday night. The Grizzlies were without their leading scorer in Rudy Gay, who did not play due to personal reasons.

Dorell Wright led all scorers with 28 points, while Zach Randolph led the Grizzlies with 23.

Marc Gasol started off hitting his first few shots, but cooled off as the game progressed. He began to pick it up in the 4th, but the Grizzlies were unable to come back.

One of the reasons the Sixers won the game was their ability to get to the line. They attempted 23 free throws, while Memphis attempted 17. Spencer Hawes put up 20 points and surprisingly had 5 blocked shots. He struggled to box out Randolph and Gasol, but when they got the rebound, he didn’t allow them to score a lot of second chance points. So I guess you can call that good, lucky, or both.

Evan Turner only scored 1 point, and committed 6 turnovers. However, he had 9 assists and gets somewhat of a pass because Tony Allen was guarding him most of the game.

The Sixers move to within one game of the .500 mark at (14-15), while the Grizzlies fall to (18-8)
