Philadelphia 76ers (14-17) vs. Los Angeles Lakers (15-15)
Tonight, the Philadelphia 76ers continue their long eight game road trip taking on the Los Angeles Lakers. This is a must win game for the Sixers. They have lost two straight including losing on Saturday night to the Portland Trailblazers 89-85.
In that game, point guard Jrue Holiday was in the zone as he scored 29 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and dished out nine assists. But it just wasn’t enough!
The last time these two teams played was back on December 16th; the Lakers dominated the Sixers and won 111-98. Expect it to go the same way if the Sixers do not start out fast.
The last time the Lakers played was last Friday and they defeated the Portland Trailblazers 104-87. This a totally different LA team than the last time the Sixers played them. The Lakers are starting to find a rhythm under head coach Mike D’Antoni which is scary when this team starts to get rolling.
An interesting matchup in this game to watch for is the point guard battle between Jrue Holiday and Steve Nash. Holiday is the Sixers superstar and Steve Nash is the Lakers game manager. Both of these players did not play against each other in the last meeting on December 16th so we will see how this matchup plays out.
Tonight’s game is a homecoming for Sixers guards Jrue Holiday and Nick Young who are both from California. We will see how the Sixers play tonight as they are looking to break their two game losing streak on the first day of 2013.
