Philadelphia 76ers vs. Houston Rockets: Recap

The Sixers have finally done it! They snapped their five game losing streak and the fans went home happy with Big Macs as they defeated the Houston Rockets tonight 107-100. This game was not going to be easy as last month these two teams met up and the Rockets dominated the Sixers in Houston winning 125-103.

I always say this about the Houston Rockets. They run a high powered offense but with that they will score over 100 points and give up over 100 points. For the Sixers, when they are leading after three quarters they usually win.

Tonight, the Sixers got another great game from their superstar point guard in Jrue Holiday. Holiday had 30 points, 9 assists, and 3 rebounds and completely outplayed Rockets point guard Jeremy Lin.

Lin had a terrible shooting night as he was 2 of 13 from the field and only scored 7 points. But the player that leads the Rockets in scoring and that led them tonight was James Harden.

Harden scored 29 points, grabbed 9 rebounds, and dished out 6 assists. He was “Mr. Everything” for the Rockets tonight and kept them in the game. Another player who did damage versus the Sixers tonight was Chandler Parsons. The tall forward scored 23 points, and picked up 9 rebounds and 4 assists.

Before I forget, Thaddeus Young and Jason Richardson both had tremendous games tonight. Young had another double-double and is looking like a serious contender for an all-star spot. He had 18 points and 12 rebounds against the Rockets. Now, Richardson who has been off and on this season played well in this game, as he had 16 points and shot 7 of 15 from the field.

The Sixers record now stands at 16-22 and will play again on Tuesday night at 7:00 pm versus the New Orleans Hornets at the Wells Fargo Center. In Tuesday’s game, Sixers fans will get their first look at number one overall pick Anthony Davis.
