After losing 12-of-13 games, the Sixers have played well as of late. It was another good week for the team, winning 3-of-4. After a bad loss at Utah on Monday night, the Sixers rattled off three consecutive wins.First it was Milwaukee, then Cleveland, then Charlotte. The Sixers found a formula for success after that horrible losing skid, and they haven’t looked back since.
With playoffs still in reach, the win against the Bucks could possibly be crucial. The Bucks currently hold the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference, but are just 5.5 games back, and the two teams are headed in opposite directions.
Stars of the Week :
1. Evan Turner – Evan has been much maligned by fans after being selected with the second overall pick two years ago, and rightfully so. However, he has been impressive lately. In his last two games, he has averaged 22.5 points, 10 rebounds, and 3.5 assists, including a 23 point, 13 rebound performance Friday night in Cleveland. One of his biggest criticisms is his lack of efficiency, but fans can not complain about that right now either. He has shot the ball above 50% in the back-to-back to wrap up this week. Don’t get me wrong, it is only two games, and more consistency is a must, but it’s a good sign.
2. Spencer Hawes – Spencer Hawes is another guy that has been criticized constantly by Sixers’ fans. Regardless of what people have to say about Spencer, he is on the streak of his career thus far. He had two double-doubles this week, against Milwaukee and then again at Cleveland. In the game at Cleveland, Hawes grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds to go along with his 15 points. The Sixers’ big man has been efficient, impressive, and is as big a reason as anybody else that this team is playing well.
