Julius Erving Thinks Lakers Tricked Sixers into Bynum Trade

According to Jason Wolf of USA Today, Julius Erving thinks the Los Angeles Lakers tricked the Sixers into making the blockbuster deal that transcended last summer for Andrew Bynum.

Erving said, “When you talk to the Lakers, when you talk to the Celtics, when you talk to – well, those two in particular – the guy on the other end of the phone has his fingers crossed. So whatever he’s telling you, he’s not telling you the truth. He’s working a deal for him. And what happened to us last year with getting damaged goods hopefully will only happen once. And that’s the extent of that learning curve.”

Erving went on to refer to Bynum as “damaged goods”. Currently, the Sixer legend serves as a consultant to the team, but has made it now known publicly that he would be willing to take on a larger role with the team.

Regardless, it seems as though “The Doctor” feels the same way that many fans do after watching the big man gaze from the sidelines.

Facts are facts, and the Sixers got nothing in return for Andre Iguodala, Nikola Vucevic, and Mo Harkless.
