NBA Draft 2013: Boston Celtics Select Lucas Nogueira With No.16 Pick

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, this pick is going to Atlanta via trade.

Nevertheless, Lucas Nogueira was the 16th overall selection. His biggest asset is his rim protection. Size and athleticism allow him to be dangerous in transition as well. “Bebe” runs the floor as well as any big in the draft.

Nogueira becomes the highest drafted Brazilian player since Nene was taken 7th overall.

Although some time away from contributing consistently, Nogueira has the potential to be a capable NBA center. At 7’0″, he has an NBA-ready frame, but he could stand to add some strength.

Offensively, he is most effective as a pick-and-roll man. He may be able to develop a post game down the road, but as for now, he is extremely raw offensively.

New head coach Mike Budenholzer will need to be patient, but he has a reputation of developing young players.
