NBA Draft 2013: Cleveland Cavaliers Select Sergey Karasev With No.19 Pick

With Cleveland’s second pick in the first-round, they selected Russia’s very own Sergey Karasev.

There is a possibility that he may play at least one more season overseas to potentially free some cap space for free agency. LeBron James, perhaps?

Regardless, Karasev is possibly the best shooter in the draft. At 6’7″, he has good length to shoot over the top. It’s not just spot-up shooting though for the Russian.

Despite not being incredibly athletic, he finds crafty ways to create his own shot off the dribble. He finds ways to throw off defender’s timing and putting them off-balance, not allowing them to contest shots to the best of their ability.

If the NBA Draft wasn’t a long enough night for Karasev, he will now fly back to Russia tonight to play in a game for his current club, Triumph Lyubertsy.
