Controversy has surrounded Shabazz Muhammad for the months leading up to the draft. Despite being drafted by the Jazz, Muhammad is on his way to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The biggest criticism on Muhammad is the fact that he is predominantly left-handed. At times during his only season at UCLA, opponents gave him the right side of the lane, but he refused.
This is somewhat of a low-risk, high-reward for Minnesota. At one time, Muhammad was a projected top-three pick.
His competitiveness is through the roof. Calling him a gym rat is an understatement.
Regardless, Muhammad’s off-the-court issues could send the red flags, but it is more his complete refusal to attack with his right hand. Minnesota traded Trey Burke earlier in the night, and now they select Muhammad.
