Khalif Wyatt Should Be On The Sixers Roster

While Michael Carter-Williams has been the main focus of the Sixers Orlando Summer League, people have been forgetting about Temple guard, Khalif Wyatt.

Wyatt has had some great seasons at Temple. In his 2010-2011 season, Wyatt averaged 20.7 minutes, 10.1 points, 1.3 steals, 1.7 assists, and 2.2 rebounds. He shot 47 % from the field, 42 % behind the 3-point line, and 76 % from the free-throw line. From there, his numbers improved. In his 2011-2012 season, Wyatt averaged 33 minutes, 17.1 points, 2.2 steals, 3.3 assists, 3.2 rebounds. He shot 48 % from the field, 38 % behind the 3-point line, and 86 % from the free-throw line. In his 2012-2013 season, Wyatt averaged 33.4 minutes, 20.5 points, 1.7 steals, 4 assists, and 2.9 rebounds. He shot 42 % from the field, 32 % behind the 3-point line, and 84 % from the free-throw line.

In one of the Summer League games against the Indiana Pacers, Wyatt finished with 25 points. In fact, he was 3rd in scoring with 12.2 points per game in the Summer League.

Sixers GM, Sam Hinkie said,

He can really pass. We’re encouraging him to find other guys some and create plays for other guys. On a team on this level, there are so few guys that can create their own shot. If you are gifted, we are encouraging you to do it for yourself and others. Khalif’s one of those guys. I think he’s done a good job so far. We’ve been pleased to have him here.

When Hinkie was asked if he has seen enough of Wyatt to be placed on the Sixers roster, Hinkie responded by saying

I think it is early right now. But he’s done fine. He’s been an important part of our team thus far. And we’ve been pleased. We’ve not been pleased because he is a local guy. We’ve been pleased because he is doing his best, and done what he needs to do. He has a lot he needs to work on, like all the other players do.

Wyatt is a very good shooter, and that’s exactly what this Sixers team needs. Wyatt would make a great piece for this 76ers team and would fit in nicely with all of the other young guys on the roster. And lets not forget, this guy’s from Temple!
