Philadelphia 76ers’ center Spencer Hawes twisted his knee a few days ago during a drill while doing defensive slides.
Sixers’ head coach Brett Brown said,
“Any time one of your better players goes down, it puts water on a practice from a coach’s point of view. The players are looking around and Spencer is going to be fine.…But then the gym got going and Tony Wroten resurrected the gym and there was a spark because of him.”
“Last time around I fed into all the contract-year stuff and psyched myself out during the offseason and then you end up realizing that it is what it is. I’ve gone through it before and I’ve changed my mindset. Coach Brett Brown is big on stretching the floor out, much more than we were in the past. He kind of has that Spurs mantra where he get threes or shots in the paint. Trying to adapt to that has been an adjustment for us, but guys are receptive.”
