Royce “Flight” White

Add a new chapter to the Royce White saga.

Per Bob Cooney, Royce did not make the flight to Spain with the Sixers.

The Sixers are traveling to Spain to play their first preseason game and after much anticipation of Royce making the flight, the team has decided to “give him a pass,” because of his anxiety disorder. Royce was very adamant, via Twitter, about joining the team and making the flight to Spain. He went on to confront Keith Pompey of Philly.com about a headline about Royce being “ready to fly.” With which he responded, “I have always been able to fly, I will just not always fly.”

Royce has been an enigma ever since the Sixers made the trade for Tim Ohlbrecht. He talks about wanting to make the Sixers and making an impact but shows up to training vamp overweight and out of shape.  Hopefully this was more of a team decision than a “him” decision, as this could be his last chance to make the team. The Sixers will be back in the US next Wednesday, my guess is we won’t hear too much from Royce until then.
