The rookie Wyatt was signed by the Sixers on September 27th after an outstanding showing in the team’s summer league. The Temple-grad went undrafted in this year’s NBA draft, but eventually joined his hometown team. Wyatt grew up in Norristown, Pennsylvania, and even lost the state championship when he was in high school to juggernaut Chester High School.
In Wyatt’s sophomore season at Temple, he earned the A-10 Sixth Man of the Year after averaging 10.1 points and 1.3 steals per game. In his final season, Temple ran out of luck in the Round of 32 of the NCAA Tournament, but Wyatt led the team in scoring with 20.5 points. He also managed 2.9 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.7 steals per contest. In the first round of the 2013 tournament, Wyatt led his Owls past N.C. State with 31 points of his own. Wyatt earned A-10 First Team All-Conference honors as well as being named the conference’s Player of the Year.
Wyatt will likely see some playing time early on behind the likes of Evan Turner and James Anderson. Perhaps Brett Brown’s experience in player development will pay dividends in the careers of youngsters such as Wyatt.
