Man, Lavoy. Remember that cool 2012 playoff run against the Celtics? Lavoy played great on Kevin Garnett. After that series, there were some voices saying Lavoy was ready to breakout for his second year in the league. I’ll admit I thought he would play better too.
I wasn’t expecting him to regress like he did.
But, here we are, at the start of his third season. And boy, I don’t know what to expect. Right now, most of the big men on the team are hobbled with injuries, including Allen. I would imagine he’d be getting decent minutes though even with this roster at full strength.
Lavoy’s career seems to be backup PF/C at best. I wouldn’t mind him being part of the bench for a championship team that is the eventual Sixers. He has to go back to the things that got him playing time in his rookie year. Play with energy. Fight for the boards and play solid defense. That’s the type of player I have always seen him as. One thing I noticed he does a lot is tap the ball on rebounds. He doesn’t always go for the grab. Stop playing volleyball and grab the ball. It’s okay.
With that effort, he should be in the rotation regularly. I also think he’s due for a little more points so I actually think he could average a new career high in points, especially if the front court is constantly hurt and he has to play extra minutes. Aw, heck, throw in some extra rebounds too.
Alright, so you agree with me, here? If not, tell me about it. And if you do agree, let me know. You know what? Comment. Just comment. Thanks for stopping by, good looking!
