According to a Fox Sports report by Sam Amico, the trade rumors for Evan Turner are heating up. To no surprise, since this is the last year of Turner’s rookie contract, and the Sixers decided to not extend him another year.
According to the report, the Oklahoma City Thunder and Dallas Mavericks are two teams that are interested in Turner. The Mavericks are willing to give up forward Shawn Marion and a draft pick in exchange for Turner. I’d have to imagine any deal for Turner will have to involve a draft pick. The Sixers should trade Turner before the trade deadline and get something for him, or he most likely walks at the end of the season for nothing.
Turner is having the best season of his young career, averaging 23.4 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. He has shown more aggressiveness in driving to the basket which is making him more appealing to other teams.
Turner has been heavily criticized ever since being the No. 2 overall pick in the 2010 NBA draft. He has career numbers of 10.5 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game in three NBA season. Turner has raised his points and rebounds every season, with an explosion this season, being given the keys to Philadelphia’s offense. Looking at the numbers, Turner has been everything BUT a bust and has shown abilities to score in bunches given the minutes.
However, the Sixers would be wise to part ways with Turner, because it’s a dream to imagine him being in a Sixers uniform next season.
Will the Sixers trade Turner before the trade deadline?
