Nerlens Noel had an interview with the NBA channel on the Sirius/XM radio channel. He told the channel some interesting news that should put a smile on a couple of Sixers fans.
When Noel was asked if he could make his NBA debut this season, he said
“There is a possibility.” Noel said “We’re just taking our time with it, being cautious with things,” he said. “I’m definitely worried about my health, but in regards to the whole season, you know, that decision hasn’t been made up. I still have to meet up with my doctors, Dr. (James) Andrews, Dr. Kevin Wilk, and come to a conclusion with that.”
Before the season started, coach Brett Brown said he didn’t expect Noel to play this season, still recovering from a torn ACL he suffered in his freshman season at Kentucky.
Noel has been with the team every step of the way this season, warming up before games and traveling with the team. Coach Brett Brown said he has been working with Noel to rebuild his jump shot (not that one is there). According to Brown, Noel won’t be touching the ball with his guide hand for a long time. If you ever go to a game, you will see him shooting with one hand before tip.
Noel has said he won’t speak with Sixers beat reporters until he begins practicing. This interview was done through his camp and has nothing to do with the Sixers or their PR department.
This will be interesting to see how it plays out. Noel is working very hard to get back on the court and it would be wonderful to get a sample, no matter how small, of his retooled game this season.
