MAN, did the Sixers need this one bad or what?
Down 120-119 in overtime with 3.7 left in the game, Evan Turner took the game into his own hands. Turner dribbled around the court, fought through two Nets, took a block and tossed the ball up. The ball would shake on the rim for a few seconds…before it DROPPED IN FOR THE GAME WINNING BUCKET!
What a game. Marc Zumoff’s call on this is vintage Sixers, feels good to have a positive vibe in the Wells Fargo Center. Say what you want about this team losing, but they needed this one badly. A team can only lose for so much before it starts to become extremely detrimental to everyone involved.
Turner finished with 29 points, 10 boards and 5 assists. Thaddeus Young addressed those trade reports on the court to the tune of 25 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. In his first game back in close to three weeks, Michael Carter-Williams had 15 points, 10 assists and 3 steals. Sixth man, Tony Wroten had 19 points on 8-17 shooting.
All the pieces that needed to work tonight for the Sixers, worked. Sure, we need to tank. That’s obvious. But, with all the losses and the trade rumors piling up, this team really needed to get a quality win under their belt before the building collapsed on this team. This was a quality victory and nothing that anyone should be upset over. Good job Sixers.
