If you didn’t know by now, the 87ers have the rights to Thanasis Antetokounmpo, who is the younger brother of Giannis who is flourishing with the Milwaukee Bucks. If Thanasis hadn’t taken his name out of the 2013 NBA Draft, he’d likely be a solid contributor for an NBA team right now.
The Greek Freak in the D-League has been making the most of his opportunities with the 87ers.
To date, Antetokounmpo is averaging 12.4 points and 4.3 rebounds. Thanasis is the best player on the roster and has a ton of upside, which has already been showcased by his brother Giannis. Thanasis is shooting 45 percent from the field and 35 percent from deep.
The 87ers are just 2-10 this season, but Thanais has been one of the steady contributors to the team. He has seven games this season where he’s scored 10+ points, plus two games where he’s scored over 20 points.
The 6-7 forward has to improve his rebounding, he doesn’t have a game this season where he has over ten rebounds. With his size and athleticism, Antetokounmpo should have a knack for grabbing loose rebounds.
Thanasis should have his name in the 2014 NBA Draft, especially after the season his brother is having. NBA GM’s will not miss on another opportunity to grab an Antetokounmpo. He might not go until the second-round, but he will be a valuable contributor to whatever team uses a pick on him.
