According to Marc Stein of ESPN, the Sixers are close to signing DeWayne Dedmon of the Santa Cruz Warriors to a 10-day contract.

The Sixers front-line is thinner than Nerlens Noel’s lower legs. Anchored by Spencer Hawes, Thaddeus Young and Brandon Davies, the Sixers need immediate help. Especially with Lavoy Allen and Nerlens Noel still being hurt. Arnett Moultrie has been medically cleared, but still hasn’t appeared in a game this season.
So who is DeWayne Dedmon?
DeWayne is a 24 year old who played college ball at USC. He only started playing basketball about five years ago. Dedmon was a touted prospect going into last years collegiate season but that ended in a free-fall. Many thought he could make some noise going into the draft combine (which he did) but ended up going undrafted.
He is a legitimate 7-foot center with some meat on him. He has a 7’4” wingspan with a 32.5” max vert. In the NBDL, he is averaging 15.7 points on 54.4 percent shooting, 14 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks in 34 minutes per game
DeWayne Dedmon will probably get minutes right away. This could be a good chance for him to showcase his potential on the NBA level. He has already shown he can dominate in the D-League. He has a nice mid-range jumper, nice touch around the rim, plus he can grab some rebounds and swat like Mutombo (not really, but sort of).
If what all we’ve read about Dedmon is right, this could be a real steal.. Almost like they found a buried treasure chest.
(Sorry, that’s all from me. I’ll leave the room)
