It’s been awhile since we’ve had some good Evan Turner quotes to discuss. Alas, we wait no longer.
With Tony Wroten out for a while, which makes me extremely sad, someone needs to take over some of the point guard responsibilities while Michael Carter-Williams is on the bench. Since the Sixers decided to sign Lorenzo Brown instead of Kendall Marshall, Evan Turner will be taking these backup “point guard” duties. What a joy it will be to watch Evan Turner pound the rock into the ground for 24-second intervals.
God help us, or more importantly, God heal Tony Wroten immediately. Evan Turner might be the last person I want bringing the ball up for the Sixers. Hell, give Brandon Davies some run at point-forward for all I care.
Per Philly.com, Brett Brown said the following about playing Turner at the point:
“I think Evan, ’cause I’m going to give Evan the ball,” Brown said. “I’m going to play Evan a little bit at some point and try that a little bit. We have Lorenzo, who’s a good, young backup, legitimate point guard and he, too, I expect will see minutes. And Elliot has shown through the course of his college career that he can be a ballcarrier. I just feel that times when Evan isn’t as involved offensively as I wished he were, that it’s a good vehicle just to give him the ball. He’s a big, capable player and we’ll convert him into a little bit like what we did at times with [Manu] Ginobili back at my old job.”
“I haven’t really done it in a while, but I just see the whole thing, that the ball gets moved and just keep trying to run at a fast pace. I have to get re-acclimated to that situation again. I’m just going to look to try to distribute, get the ball moving. That’s where we’ve struggled the past few games, not getting the ball moving. I think in general it’s better because I actually get the ball. That’s cool. That’s what you want. Give me the rock.”
