Earlier this afternoon, according to multiple sources, rookie sensation Michael Carter-Williams was named a participant in the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge. Carter-Williams, who is also the front-runner for NBA Rookie of the Year, will be joined by fellow rookies: Victor Oladipo (Orlando), Mason Plumlee (Nets), Trey Burke (Jazz) and a host of others.

The game itself should be a highly entertaining showcase. If you are not a fan of rookies however, you won’t be denied action as a host of high caliber sophomore players are joining the party. The list includes: Harrison Barnes (Warriors), Bradley Beal (Wizards), Dion Waiters (Cavaliers) and future All-Star point guard Damian Lillard. Lillard will probably see limited action as he will most likely be named to the Western Conference reserve team, though it has not been made official yet.

The game is scheduled for Friday, February 14th. That is correct, Valentines Day night, the future of the NBA will be on display. The festivities will be held in New Orleans, Louisiana. Congratulations to Philadelphia 76ers’ point guard Michael Carter-Williams on a great accomplishment.
