Project for the rest of the 2013-14 season

I know all of this losing is getting to even the most dedicated tanker. There’s concern the Sixers may never win again for the rest of the season. We gotta distract ourselves. What better way than the bright future of the team?

Here’s something we can do:

Keep an eye on March Madness and the supposed top guys the Sixers could take. Look at expiring contracts of current players. The Sixers are going to have a lot of money going into the offseason. Pick some players you like.

Now, you have the draft. We’ll only talk about the first round. The Pelicans are likely missing the playoffs, so we’ll have two lottery picks. Pick your players.

That’s right, we’re building our own 2014-15 season team.

That’s the assignment. Build your team. Most likely, the team will have the core of MCW, Noel, and the other two lottery picks. Free agency would be for gathering a solid supporting group. But, that’s one way of looking at things. No real rules. You want Lebron? Go get him.

This exercise is to get our mind off of this season. We knew this season would be tough. We have to hang on to hope in the draft. Or free agency.

Things will get better for this proud franchise. This city. We long for the Iverson days again, but, we’ve got young talent here and on the way that could bring us, not one, not two, not three…well, you get the idea.

Anyway, you have your assignment. I’ll be posting my team later this week.

Don’t forget to have fun. The only real limit is the salary cap. Use the trade machine and make the dream trade. Don’t forget the league minimum roster number is 13. When I post my team, you can post yours in the comments of that post. Or later. You can hit me on Twitter too with your team. Other members of The Sixer Sense staff may even join in. Get creative. Get crazy.
