Bulls Coach Tom Thibodeau Praises Sixers Effort

Last night, the Sixers dropped their 22nd consecutive game, losing 102-94 to the Chicago Bulls. However, the Sixers did not just lay down and get ran out of their own building. For the past few games, the Sixers have showed a lot of fight, something that describes the reputation of the city of Philadelphia perfectly.

With just about eight minutes left in the game, the Sixers tied the score, after trailing by as much as 11 to one of the best defensive teams in the NBA. Even though Philadelphia lost the game, Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau praised the effort he saw on the court.

Here’s what Thibodeau said about the Sixers (via Chicago Tribune):

“I give a guy like Young a lot of credit for his professionalism and how hard he plays,” Thibodeau said. “They play together and have a great spirit about them.”

The Sixers are a couple games shy of having the worst losing streak in NBA history, Sixers fans are aware of this. However, the way this team is fighting the past few games is respectable. The roster is full of a bunch of young and hungry players out of the D-League who are fighting for their NBA lives. There is nothing guaranteed for most of the players on this roster after the season is over. This is one of the only shots these players might receive and they have to impress. The players realize this and they are taking advantage of this. Hollis Thompson, Jarvis Varnado, James Nunnally, Tony Wroten — these players have nothing guaranteed to them past this season. Even if some of them have contracts, nothing can keep them safe from being cut. It’s amazing to see how these players can respond to this and compete with some of the best teams in the NBA. The Sixers lost by less than 10 to two of the best teams in the Eastern Conference in the Pacers and the Bulls. It’s not a lot, but it’s better than what Sixers fans have become accustomed to during this losing streak.
The wins may not be there, but the effort has been recently. That’s definitely something the Sixers can build on. I feel like a win is coming soon for this team, do you?
