The Sixers announced today that Julius “Dr. J” Erving will represent the 76ers at the 2014 NBA Draft Lottery which takes place tomorrow night. Dr. J won a championship with the 76ers in 1983, so let’s hope that he plays a huge role in bringing the next championship piece to Philadelphia. The Sixers will need all the luck they can get tomorrow night. Let’s all pray that Dr. J can bring this luck to them.
Sixers CEO Scott O’Neil issued the following statement (via NJ.com):
“Dr. J is one of the most revered and legendary figures in the history of the Philadelphia 76ers and the National Basketball Association, so it is fitting that he represent us at the podium on this exciting night,” said Sixers CEO Scott O’Neil. “As we build for the future, we are thrilled to have a key part of our past with us to bring the team good luck during tomorrow night’s NBA Draft Lottery.”
If you want my opinion, Dr. J is a great choice to have at the lottery. Allen Iverson may receive some nods from the younger crowd (which I’m included in), but good luck trying to get Iverson there on time.
