NBA Draft 2014: Sixer Sense Mock Draft 1.0

facebooktwitterreddit

NBA Mock Draft season is upon us! With all of the mock drafts populating this country fasted than Karl Malone did, our own author, Spencer Layman, decided to take matters into his own hands with his very own mock draft.

This is my first mock draft I’ve ever made. It will be wrong, none of these picks (okay, maybe some) will actually happen. This mock will change plenty of times over the next month due to rumors, trades and other team info. And here… we.. go…

1. Cleveland Cavaliers

Joel Embiid, Center/Kansas University

The Cavaliers have passed up on centers in the draft the past couple years. With an aging Anderson Varejao, the Cavs cannot take a chance on missing out on Joel Embiid. Newsflash! His back will be fine.

2. Milwaukee Bucks

Jabari Parker, Forward/Duke University

Want someone who can score right away? Jabari’s repertoire is indeed NBA ready.

3. Philadelphia 76ers

Andrew Wiggins, Guard/Kansas University

Think Andrew Wiggins is too skinny? Don’t worry, Philly’s cheesesteaks will bulk him up.

4. Orlando Magic

Dante Exum, Guard/International

Even though I think Victor Oladipo can be a very good point guard in the future, you can’t pass on Dante Exum here. Move him to the point, move Oladipo to the shooting guard. Hey, at least it’s not a center the Lakers will take away in 8 years.

5. Utah Jazz

Aaron Gordon, Forward/Arizona University

Jazz fans, do you miss Andre Kirilenko? Want an upgraded version? Well here ya go!

6. Boston Celtics

Marcus Smart, Guard/Oklahoma State University

I dislike Danny Ainge. He gets one of my favorite players. Ugh

7. Los Angeles Lakers

Julius Randle, Power Forward/University of Kentucky

BREAKING NEWS: JULIUS RANDLE WEARS KOBE SHOES SO MITCH MUST DRAFT HIM

8. Sacramento Kings

Noah Vonleh, Power Forward/Center, Indiana University

My dream scenario for the Kings is to get the front court tandem of Vonleh/Boogie. They can be interchangeable on both sides of the ball. Also, King Noah has a ring to it (no it doesn’t, but whatever.)

9. Charlotte Hornets

Gary Harris, Shooting Guard/Michigan State University

Charlotte seems to like defense a lot, that’s what Gary Harris can do (among other things). Gary will have Charlotte buzzing (hehe).

10. Philadelphia 76ers

Dario Saric, Forward/International HINKIE HAVE A DREAM! Sam Hinkie has talked about stretching the floor with a forward. Dario could be the next Lamar Odom so this is a great value pick (even though I want Zach LaVine).

11. Denver Nuggets

Elfrid Payton, Point Guard/University of Louisiana at Lafayette

He has great hair.

12. Orlando Magic

PJ Hairston, Shooting Guard/Texas Legends D-League

This gives them a chance to finally trade Arron Afflalo. Weeeeeeeeeeeee!

13. Minnesota Timberwolves

James Young, Small Forward/University of Kentucky

He doesn’t have Chase Budinger or Robbie Hummel’s knees.

14. Phoenix Suns

Zach LaVine, Guard/University of California, Los Angeles

SO MUCH EXCITEZ WITH DRAGIC AND BLEDSOE AND GREEN!

15. Atlanta Hawks

KJ McDaniels, Small Forward/Clemson University

He’s going to be special.

16. Chicago Bulls

Nik Stauskas, Guard/Michigan University

The Bulls have to play offense eventually, right?

17. Boston Celtics

Jusuf Nurkic, Center/International

Want a center? Here’s the second best center in draft by default!

18. Phoenix Suns

Clint Capela, Power Forward/International

Defense and athleticism and he has a cool last name.

19. Chicago Bulls

Tyler Ennis, Point Guard/Syracuse University

Hopefully this goes better than the Marquise Teauge project.

20. Toronto Raptors

Rodney Hood, Guard/Duke University

Well at least he’s not Landry Fields.

21. Oklahoma City Thunder

Adrien Payne, Power Forward/Michigan State University

Honestly, Adrien won’t fall this far in the draft. He’ll shoot up. He’s only here because I forgot to put him earlier.

22. Memphis Grizzlies

TJ Warren, Forward/North Carolina State University

He can’t shoot from the outside but neither can Tayshaun Prince.

23. Utah Jazz

Kyle Anderson, Point Forward/University of California, Los Angeles

Could take some pressure off Burke as far as ball-handling goes. I wish Jerry Sloan could coach him.

24. Charlotte Hornets

Shabazz Napier, Point Guard/University of Connecticut

KEMBA AND SHABAZZ ARE BACK IN BUSINESS! HORNETS NBA CHAMPIONS 2015! (or something like that.)

25. Houston Rockets

Jordan Adams, Shooting Guard/University of California, Los Angeles

They need someone to back-up James Harden eventually.

26. Miami Heat

Glenn Robinson, Small Forward/University of Michigan

More shooters for LeBron.

27. Phoenix Suns

Patric Young, Center/University of Florida

Can you imagine Patric Young and PJ Tucker on the same team? /shivers

28. Los Angeles Clippers

Mitch McGary, Power Forward/University of Michigan

Ryan Hollins, Glen Davis, and former Byron Mullens.. lol

29. Oklahoma City Thunder

Jerami Grant, Forward/Syracuse University

Long, athletic, young and someone who Scott Brooks won’t play! Great fit!

30. San Antonio Spurs

Cleanthony Early, Forward/ Wichita State University

His name is Cleanthony so he fits right in with names like: Manu, Kawhi, Marco, Patty, Tiago, Boris and Aron.
