Nerlens Noel to Make NBA Debut in Summer League

It’s time to get some pictures of Nerlens Noel in a Sixers uniform. Yesterday, it was revealed that day would be coming sooner rather than later..

Sam Hinkie announced on the WIP afternoon show yesterday that he anticipated that Nerlens Noel would make his NBA debut during summer league this off season. Finally, the long anticipated debut of the Sixers second lottery pick from the 2013 draft will be playing.

Seemingly, a few hours after the Hinkie interview, an article surfaced from the Boston Globe in which Nerlens Noel made it clear he will be making his debut in the summer league:

“I’ve been 100 percent for months now,” Noel told the Globe. “I feel great and continue to get stronger in all parts of my body, just continuing my growth really. I will be playing in summer games and summer league.”

“It’s beyond words [to play], it’s been a long time coming,” he said. “I feel I’m definitely ready and focused. The whole offseason, I’ve focused on being stronger and working on my skill points, working on my shot, which I have progressed a lot with, working on my technique. Every part of my game I feel I’ve definitely improved on.

Fans of the Sixers are excited about the June 27th draft, rightfully so with the Sixers holding the third and 10th picks in one of the deepest draft in the last decade. But, let’s remember how special Nerlens Noel can be.

Noel averaged 10.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in his lone season with Kentucky. I’m expecting him to come in and average around eight points and nine rebounds with about two blocks per game. Fan’s shouldn’t expect a lot from Noel on the offensive side of the ball; he’s considered a defensive specialist.

The play he tore his ACL on just shows how much hustle this kid plays with. After someone on the Florida Gators intercepted his pass, Noel broke a sprint to the player heading to the rim. Noel caught the ball and smacked it off the rim. Unfortunately, he came down with the injury. However, that play just speaks volumes about how this kid plays the game. Philadelphia is going to fall in love with Nerlens Noel.

Everyone has forgotten about Noel after the draft lottery and dreams of a top three pick. Nerlens Noel is going to be special and could wind up being more important than anyone drafted this year.
