It’s no secret that trade rumors about Sixers point guard Michael Carter-Williams have been spreading like wildfire in the past few weeks. Sometimes people assume that athletes don’t catch wind of these ploys; guess what, they do. Michael Carter-Williams is well aware of the trade rumors and was a guest on 94 WIP this morning and spoke about the rumors.

Here’s what Michael Carter-Williams had to say (via

“I didn’t even pay any attention to it,” Carter-Williams said. “I have a great relationship with coach’s and the GM’s here, you know, I’m pretty confident that I’m not going anywhere for a little while. I heard it and I didn’t really pay any attention to it.”

There it is. While this doesn’t mean that Michael Carter-Williams can’t or won’t be traded, it’s nice to hear the rookie speak out about the rumors. Obviously, it’s not up to MCW if he gets traded or not. All he can do is wake up every morning and work his ass off, just like I’m sure he’s doing. Carter Williams averaged 16.7 points, 6.3 assists and 6.2 rebounds last season.

The main trade rumors have been about Dante Exum, the Australian sensation. The two seem like carbon copies of each other, but it’s been said that Exum has the higher upside. At this point, who the hell really knows?

Even with this statement, the rumors about trading Michael Carter-Williams will still be running rampant until the night of the NBA Draft.

Better not be, MCW is a proven commodity in the league. Started off red hot, cooled down a bit during the latter stretch of the season but still was in the kitchen cooking, some people want to be extra critical of that fact about MCW. Teams started game planning specifically for him, there was no other point of focus on the team other than MCW plus the injury with his labrum I feel contributed to the dropoff in his jumper. For him to finish off averaging 16+ points, & also 6+ ast, on a team of D league notables is pretty impressive. The way he come out as a rookie, unshaken by the fact his team was squaring off with the likes of Rose, Wall, & the reigning NBA champions, led by the greatest player on the planet in Lebron James, shows the type of poise MCW has. He’s a leader, with amazing physical gifts & skillset. He’s a keeper & a major building block for us. He’s already captivated Philadelphia, he has the city riding with him as the face of our franchise.
