If you didn’t know, Andrew Wiggins arrived in Philadelphia on Sunday night and is planning to stay for three days. He’s been scheduled for a private workout and things have been quite messy every since his arrival at PCOM. According to reports, the Sixers beat writers were forced away from PCOM — which is where the Sixers practice and hold workous — while trying to catch a glimpse of Mr. Wiggins.
76ers reporter for the Daily News, Bob Cooney, hopped on 94WIP this morning and discussed what unfolded at PCOM (via CBS Philly):
“What happened was, we’re gathered by the entrance of the gymnasium where we always go and a security guard comes out and says you guys need to move it back,” Cooney explained. “Move back to the garage area which is a good 100 yards away from the entrance to the gym. Somebody else comes out and says no, you need to move it out to the street — this is still PCOM people. Get down to the sidewalk, leading to the driveway that goes up to the entrance of the gym, then a police officer comes out and says you guys need to be in the street.”
Apparently, the 76ers didn’t mean for this to happen and tried to apologize to the beat reporters with donuts, because America runs on dunkin’ right?
So everything is all good, right? Wrong.
Andrew Wiggins is comparable to the POTUS at this point. Then this happened:
Is Wiggins Watch 2014 a smokescreen for Dante Exum? Who the hell knows, I don’t even know what I’m writing at this point. It’s insane that the 76ers beat writers were kicked from PCOM just because Andrew Wiggins was present. They are just trying to do their job, it’s disgusting.
But really, Andrew Wiggins is in Philadelphia right now. Can we throw the 2017-18 NBA Championship parade RIGHT NOW?
NINE DAYS UNTIL THE DRAFT.
