Well, the Joel Embiid news is destroying the internet. It was announced that Embiid had two screws placed in the navicular bone of his right foot. He is expected to have a 4-6 month recovery, which would place his return around January/February. With all of this going on, all hell is breaking loose with trade rumors and speculations. The 2014 NBA Draft is on June 26th, which is six days away. Is anyone going to be alive that day? After all of this, I’m not sure. The following series of tweets are the latest Sixers trade news on the rumor mill:
That last tweet by Steve Kyler of BasketballInsiders.com kind of sums up my feelings on this. Sending Michael Carter-Williams and Thaddeus Young to the Lakers for No. 7 and Nash seems extremely one sided. At one point, it seemed as if Thaddeus Young and the No. 10 pick would garner the No. 8 selection from the Kings. It seems like way too much to give up Michael Carter-Williams AND Thaddeus Young for an extra slot. Plus, who the hell do the Sixers covet enough at the No. 7 slot to give up MCW and Young?
This is presuming that the Sixers draft point guard Dante Exum with the third pick. I’m in the realm of thinking that Exum and Carter-Williams can work together in the backcourt. Two 6-foot-6 point guards is an amazing problem to have.
This tweet makes me believe that Sam Hinkie knows it has the probability of working also. Most of Sixers twitter laughed and destroyed the MCW/Thad for Nash/No. 7 trade offer. There has to be more to it…RIGHT? Stay tuned for more developing details…NBA Draft in six days.
