Sam Hinkie finally spoke to the media. Hinkie held a press conference at 1 PM EST today at PCOM and addressed everything about the NBA Draft and the 76ers future.
Let’s take a look at some of the best quotes from Sam Hinkie’s post NBA Draft Press Conference:
Sam Hinkie gave out a lot of good information — finally — in this press conference. He broke his much anticipated silence and people should be happy with what he had to say. It’s interesting that Hinkie sees Embiid as a power forward and Nerlens Noel as more of a center. I’m pretty sure that most people thought it would be the opposite, but it might be awhile before we really find out. Hinkie said that Embiid could be out 5-to-8 months, not the origional 4-to-6 that was reported. If that’s the case, then Joel Embiid might be sitting the whole year out. Just gives the Sixers another opportunity for Rookie of the Year after Nerlens Noel wins it this year right? Then Saric can win Rookie of the Year the year after! We might not have championships, but we will have ALL of the Rookie of the Year votes.
Also, note that Hinkie announced Byron Mullens declined his player option and Jason Richardson accepted his. Plus, the 2017 first-round pick that the 76ers are getting back from Orlando will be unprotected, since it was originally the 76ers selection.
