McRae Impresses, but Bulls Cut 76ers Championship Aspirations Short

The summer Sixers were a valiant group, they gave it all they had on the court. In Orlando, the summer Sixers were champions and Philadelphia hoped that the same outcome would happen in Las Vegas. Alas, the 76ers ran into the Chicago Bulls — undefeated in Vegas Summer League play — who proved to be too much for Philly. The final score read: Bulls 77, 76ers 68.

However, the Sixers did not go down without a fight, that’s for certain. Jordan McRae took the part of Michael Jordan for the 76ers, scoring 25 points on 7-of-8 from the floor and 10-of-10 from the line. McRae was perfect until he launched up an air ball three-pointer when the game was already decided.

Nerlens Noel had what was probably one of his worse outings in his extremely short career. He dropped 14 points on 5-of-13 shooting, but looked completely exhausted throughout the night. He admitted that he was suffering from a cold and was sent back to the locker room a couple of times to re tape his ankle. Noel recorded no blocks or steals, which was a first in his Summer League career.

K.J. McDaniels had 11 points, three rebounds and three blocks after missing the previous game. Casper Ware was inactive for the game. Looks like he has a strong shot at making the roster.

The 76ers will play the D-League Select team in a consolation game on Friday at 8 p.m.
