According to Marc Stein of ESPN, our Rookie of the Year, Michael Carter-Williams, was invited to Team USA’s camp as a part of the Select team, but wasn’t able to participate because of him recovering from shoulder surgery.
The Select team is the group of younger players in the NBA that typically will practice against the real Team USA. It’s a shame that Carter-Williams wasn’t able to participate, because this would have been a great opportunity for growth. Even though he had a great rookie season, this would have helped him even more.
However, it’s still encouraging that Carter-Williams was selected to be apart of the camp, shoulder surgery or not. The 76ers have a special player in MCW and other people are starting to notice.
