Welp, the excitement is all gone. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, the T’Wolves and Cavaliers have agreed to a Kevin Love/Andrew Wiggins swap. In the deal, Anthony Bennett and a protected 2015 first-rounder are also going to Minnesota. Even though it was previously reported that Bennett would be making his way to Philly, but that doesn’t seem plausible at this point.
When this news dropped, 76ers report Tom Moore took to Twitter to explain that Bennett won’t be coming to the 76ers:
So, get those dreams of Anthony Bennett (I know you had them) in a 76ers uniform out of your head. Get those Andrew Wiggins ones away also, if they’re still floating around.
The 76ers taking back expiring contracts and a protected first-round pick might not be that likely either, especially when considering this tweet from ESPN’s Darren Wolfson:
Of course, it was surprising that the trade news about Thaddeus Young got out and apparently Sam Hinkie wasn’t pleased:
Well, are you all caught up now? I already had my blue 76ers jersey preordered with Bennett’s name on it, but let’s hope the NBA Store discontinues those or something. In the mean time, let’s see if the 76ers will actually fill out a roster before the summer ends!
