The Philadelphia 76ers need a quick fix at point guard.  The requirements? a reasonable contract and must compliment Ben Simmons and company are the two most pressing needs.

It’s no secret that the Philadelphia 76ers are on the market for a point guard this off-season, as the team made valiant efforts to attain one prior to the draft, albeit they eventually fell short. With that said, the point guard market isn’t overly impressive this year, and with the salary cap rising they must be wise in their approach to tracking one down. Overpaying could be a detriment to their flexibility long term, while not putting an apt playmaker on the floor alongside Ben Simmons could limit their offensive versatility.

In terms of what they should look for, they need a skilled off-ball scorer who can still carry the facilitation load at times when the offense isn’t running through Ben Simmons. There’s still no guarantee that the first overall selection in ready to be the main piece executing the offense, and having a steady hand alongside him who can also work off of him as a scoring piece would be an ideal situation.

The salary limitations for the point guard spot should be fairly consistent. Without an elite talent being in consideration with the Sixers, they should look to retain as much cap space as is possible moving forward and settle for someone who can help keep the offense in tact while not hampering their spending ability in the foreseeable future.
