Much has been made of Andrew Bynum’s time with the Sixers. When the news was broken that the team had made a blockbuster trade to finally bring in a superstar talent that organization has lacked since the Allen Iverson era, Bynum was beloved. After just one season, he has been maligned for just about every move he has made.

Bynum failed to play a single game for the 76ers in 2012-2013, and racked up almost $17 million along the way. If that wasn’t enough, he re-injured his already troublesome knee while bowling, and after the season’s conclusion, he was caught on video doing his best “Dancing with the Stars” impression at a cafe in Madrid, Spain.

However, in his last season as a Los Angeles Laker, the 25-year-old Bynum averaged almost 19 points, 12 rebounds, and 2 blocks. These numbers are significantly more impressive than at first glance due to the fact that he got his points while playing alongside the likes of Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol, who both command the ball.

It is hard to tell at this point whether or not the Sixers will attempt to bring the 7-footer back next season, but the decision is much tougher than many fans think. Most do not want the headache that was Andrew Bynum’s 2012-2013 season all over again, but if Bynum is cleared by doctors before he becomes an unrestricted free agent July 1st, the decision will be magnified.

There is no saying that Bynum will want to return to Philadelphia, but in my opinion, if he does and they can construct a team-friendly, health-incentive deal, by all means they should do it. Regardless of what people think, Bynum is the only chance that the Sixers have at a superstar for some time. If Bynum is healthy and Jrue Holiday can continue to improve, the Sixers can be extremely competitive for some time to come.

This past summer the Philadelphia 76ers drafted two players to help this team. One player, Moe Harkless was involved in the Andre Iguodala-Andrew Bynum blockbuster trade and the second player was Arnett Moultrie.

First off, let me introduce you to who Arnett Moultrie is for people that do not know him. Moultrie is a 6-10, 245 lbs forward out of Mississippi State University. Last season, at Mississippi State, Moultrie had 16.4 points, 10.5 rebounds, and averaging almost 36 minutes per game.

Fast forward to the preseason, he played in five games and started in one. In the preseason, Arnett Moultrie averaged 2.8 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. He did all of this in 14.4 minutes per game but look for this numbers to increase in the regular season if he can stand out!

Moultrie is with some tough competition in the Sixers’ frontcourt with the likes of Andrew Bynum, Lavoy Allen, Kwame Brown, Thaddeus Young, and Spencer Hawes. Moultrie has shown in college that he can play with the big boys, he played in the SEC. But this is a different league, the NBA.

I have big expectations for Moultrie because he can help the Sixers on the defensive side of the ball with his shot blocking ability. But if Moultrie cannot get no playing time with the Sixers because of the other big men are playing well, then I would not be opposed to seeing him in the NBA D-League.

If he goes to the NBA D-League, then he will get much more playing time to help him develop as a player. There have been former Sixers who have been placed in the NBA D-Leauge and they got better. Players such as Louis Williams and Xavier Silas but never the less, I think if not this season but next season Arnett Moultrie will be a budding star for the Philadelphia 76ers.
