The 2013 NBA Draft Lottery is upon us, and like everything else related to sports, there are some interesting odds at play. The draft order, set after the conclusion of the regular season, is in the reverse order of the final standings. Non-playoff teams were the only ones eligible for the lottery, with the exception of the Oklahoma City Thunder via the James Harden trade (the rich just get keep getting richer). Don’t count Vegas and other sports’ books out of the action either; many gambling sites have set their own odds as well. Let’s break down each team’s odds at the #1 pick, and the potential spoils you can collect if you predict the winner.

So there you have it. With a little bit of luck and a lot of ping pong balls, one fortunate team will walk away with the #1 overall pick in this year’s draft. Our Philadelphia 76ers are a long shot, facing less than a 1% chance of grabbing that honor. Nonetheless, we will be watching, with our fingers crossed.

The Draft Lottery results can be watched live on ESPN this Tuesday night, at 8:30 PM EST.

Alright, I am now almost 100% satisfied with the Sixers’ offseason. In my last post, I said that the Sixers hadn’t done what was necessary, and that they were looking straight towards another 8th seed finish, along with a first-round exit. My opinion has changed completely after the additions of Andrew Bynum and Jason Richardson(although Richardson isn’t too huge of an upgrade). Now that we have a legit star on this team, I believe that we can say hello to a 2-4 seed finish, including an easy entrance into the second round of the playoffs. The only sad thing about this trade was saying goodbye Andre Iguodala, who was a very likable player, but him leaving was necessary in the acquisition of Bynum.

So, with the new and improved Sixers, what should our season goals be? Now, that the Sixers in my opinion are one of the best teams in the East, I think that they should get about 50-55 wins, wining our division. That only stands as is if Bynum can keep healthy, and Jrue Holiday and Evan Turner can continue to improve. Another key factor for this teams success would be an improved bench. I know that after lasts years bench performances put on by the Sixers that it would be impossible to make it better, but we did. Pending on what we do with the SG/SF positions, we have Wright, N. Young/Richardson, T.Young, Brown, and Lavoy Allen coming off the bench. So this 2013 Sixers team will have even more depth that the team of last year. We are now almost into September, which marks about 2 months until the Sixers open up against the Denver Nuggets at the Wells Fargo Center. I’m very excited for the upcoming season, are you?
