It has already been well documented that Jrue Holiday’s older brother, Justin Holiday, has been called up from the D-League’s Idaho Stampede to join the Sixers. With the team’s roster already set at the maximum of fifteen players, the front office was faced with the decision of who to let go.

The news has broke, and it is recently acquired guard, Jeremy Pargo. After signing two ten-day contracts, Pargo was signed for the remainder of the season by the Sixers. He played in 14 games with the team, averaging an unimpressive 4.9 points and 2.0 assists per game on 38% shooting from the field.

Pargo impressed Doug Collins early in his stint with Philadelphia, but recently has filled an insignificant role in the team’s rotation.

Justin Holiday landed in Philadelphia last night, and spent the night with younger brother, Jrue. Justin will wear the number 14 for the Sixers, and will primarily be used as a 3-point shooter and a perimeter defender.

The decision to waive Jeremy Pargo broke earlier this morning. Charles Jenkins was the other candidate most likely to be waived to make room for the elder Holiday.

On a very lazy NBA trade deadline day where many people expected the likes of Josh Smith, Al Jefferson, or DeJuan Blair to be traded. None of those guys were except J.J. Redick who went to the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Sixers today didn’t sit on their hands either. They acquired the talents of point guard Charles Jenkins from the Golden State Warriors. In return, the Sixers will send Golden State a second round pick. But according to Sam Amick, the Warriors might not even see the pick.

Golden State made this trade so they can get under the luxury tax. For the Sixers, they added another point guard to a team that already has the likes of Jrue Holiday, Royal Ivey, and newly signed Jeremy Pargo. Jenkins is a second year player out of Hofstra. The 6-3, 215 lb. point guard has got limited playing time with the Warriors this season.

This season, Jenkins is only averaging 1.7 points, 0.6 assists, and 0.4 rebounds per game. Over his short career, Jenkins is averaging 3.9 points, 2.0 assists, and 0.9 rebounds per game. If you remember Jenkins in college he was a scoring machine at Hofstra increasing his scoring over his four year career. By time, Jenkins was a senior he was averaging 22.6 points per game.

As a Sixers fan, do not expect Jenkins to put up those kinds of numbers. Matter of fact, Jenkins will probably not get a lot of playing time as this team is loaded with point guards as I mentioned before. Jenkins will just be another body on the bench but has the potential to be an adequate player next season.
