Remember back in the 2011 NBA Draft and as David Stern approached the podium we as Philadelphia Sixers fans anxiously awaited the name of the next branch on the team family tree. The team selected a 7’0 forward from USC named Nikola Vucevic. He is sure holding his own in his sophomore season, only problem is, its not in a Sixers uniform.

Nikola Vuecvic was one of the quote on quote throw in players in the historic yet dismal Dwight Howard trade. He is producing at a high level averaging 11.1 points per game and 11 rebounds a game. We should also throw in his historic game against the Miami Heat on New Years Eve. He posted a career best 20 points and holds the Magic record for rebounds in a game with 29. Could it really be that yet again the Sixers have passed up on another promising young NBA player? Are Sixers staff and coaches going to be asking themselves, “How did we let him slip away” every time they play Orlando? The forward the Sixers did decide to keep in Lavoy Allen, is averaging 6.0 per game and just under 6.0 rebounds per game.

Bottom Line, the Sixers look extremely foolish every time they get abused and out rebounded on the boards. Only time will tell if the Sixers will have the sour face when it comes to Nikola Vuecvic. Sad thing is some fans asks the same question, “Nick who”?
