After spending a week in Orlando scouting his young talent, Doug Collins will spend some time abroad at the Summer Olympics. Collins puts the headphones on again and will be the color analyst for the mens basketball coverage in London. He served as the color analyst in 2008 in Beijing and had been doing color for TNT since 2003 prior to being hired by the Sixers. Collins was a member of the controversial 1972 U.S. team that was awarded the silver medal after losing to the Soviet Union, due to some poor officiating. That team has still not accepted their silver medals. Along with watching all the world’s best players, Collins will get to keep a close eye on his player Andre Iguodala. Doug brings an outstanding view of the game due to his playing and coaching experience and adds analysis but does not take attention away from the players on the court.

Following in the footsteps of Charles Barkley and Allen Iverson, Andre Iguodala will head to London to bring back an Olympic medal. Iguodala was one of the last three players to be added to the roster by Coach K and Jerry Colangelo. So far in the U.S.’s pre Olympic schedule he is averaging 6.5 points and 4 rebounds a game in 4 games. He has shot 60 percent from the floor and 50 percent from three point range. Iguodala has been very pesky on the defensive end with 6 steals and has created plenty of fast break opportunities. He will play a bench role backing up Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Durant, expected to bring his defensive intensity and quickness as a spark off the bench. Even if he does not get to play alot of valuable minutes for Team USA, the experience could be invaluable as he heads into the 2012 season with the Sixers.
