4) How long before the 76ers are ready to contend?

Dante Nelson: Four years if Embiid is all he was projected to be. MCW will have to improve. But, I went into this draft thinking the Sixers were grabbing their franchise player. So, most of their contending status rests on Embiid’s back.

Spencer Layman: When does LeBron and/or KD retire? Whenever that is.

Curt Jenkins: Depends on what you mean by contend. To contend for a tip playoff spot, I say they will not be ready until 2017. This team is young and has the potential to be special. It all had to pan out that way though. Can the fan base really wait a minimum of 2-3 years of futility? For a championship it all depends on how they pan out. Barring a splash in free agency it could speed the process up slightly.

Ryan Calpin: I think the Sixers will need at least 2 more full rough seasons before they are ready to compete. Meaning that in the  2016-2017 season they can compete and be an actual threat to the leading contenders. By that time MCW will be settled in and hopefully have a better shot. Nerlens Noel will be stepping into his role (hopefully) and adapting to the NBA. Joel Embiid will be growing everyday as a dominant center in this league (hopefully). And Dario Saric will be in the NBA, all polished up and ready to go.
